HISTORY:The Center for Southern Folklore began its work in the early 1970s documenting in film and sound the experiences of the men and women of the south south including their arts, traditions and stories which were quickly disappearing from the Memphis and Delta region. It has contributed to the promotion of new talent and legendary performers through concerts, music festivals and educational programs.
