C.H. Nash Museum at Chucalissa
In 1930, a Native American temple mound complex was discovered and the site was developed as a laboratory for training archaeologists. Now Chucalissa Museum allows visitors to see firsthand the life and culture of the people who predate the first Europeans who set foot upon Mississippi Valley soil.
This 15th century mound interprets the pre-history of the Mid-South, contemporary Southeastern Indian cultures, and serves as a gateway into understanding the science of archeology. You will see the story unfold through artifacts, displays, video and hands-on archaeology laboratory exhibits.
Check out the gift shop for authentic Native American arts including beadwork, baskets, dream catchers, charm bags, moccasins and other traditional items. If you are interested in traditional music, there is a large selection of CDs and DVDs available.
