Shelby Farms Park in East Memphis is the largest urban park in the United States. Shelby Farms has trails, bike trails, horseback riding, running trails, playgrounds, a lake and plenty of space to fly kites. Shelby Farms is also home to a herd of American Bison.

    Running/Hiking/Walking/Biking areas:

6-Mile Horseback Riding and Hiking Trail: This is a newly developed trail that shows parts of Shelby Farms Park that have not been seen by the public. With a number of wooden bridges built, this six-foot-wide trail  begins and ends at the parking lot of the park's stables. The trail not only takes riders and walkers along the edge of beautiful Poplar Tree lake, it offers a picnic table overlooking the lake. The path also loops so that users can return to the start without going the entire six miles if they wish. Riding a horse at 2.5 mph would mean a two and a half to three hour ride on the trail.

Patriot Lake Trail: A 1.67-mile, multi-use paved trail (loop). This trail loops around Patriot Lake adjacent to the Visitor center.

Chickasaw Lake Trail: A 3-mile, multi-use paved trail (loop). This 8' wide paved loop that takes you past the bison range, over and around Chickasaw Lake, along Mullin Station road, through the playground area and past Pine Lake before returning you back to the Visitor Center. The scenery is great and the travel is gentle with a few hills. There are benches conveniently located along the trail, each offering some great scenery.

Tour de Wolf Trail: A 6-mile, singletrack & Fireroad dirt path (loop). This trail is primarily for off-road biking through some of the park's wooded areas and open fields. Its rolling terrain has a few climbs and some fast descents, making it a great course for all skill levels. Start below the Visitors Center just off Farm Road. Ride up the rangers' road to the top of the hill then just follow the signs.

World Police and Fire Games 10K Trail: A 10K, off-road & paved path trail (loop). This trail was used for the World Police and Fire Games.

The South Side Trail: A 4-mile, multi-use paved trail (point-to-point). This trail is located on the South side of Walnut Grove Road. The path takes you east toward Germantown Parkway through the farmland of Agricenter International and behind Duck's Unlimited national headquarters. The trail ends at a parking lot adjacent to the Wolf River, just off Germantown Parkway.

Wolf River Yellow Trail: A 4-mile, singletrack dirt path (point-to-point). Exit the main park entrance, go across Farm Road and follow Silo Road (fireroad) for about 1/2 mile to the trailhead just under and past the Walnut Grove Road bridge. This trail winds through the woods along the Wolf River and ends at a parking lot just off Germantown Parkway.

Wolf River Blue Trail: A 4-mile, single track dirt path (point-to-point). Exit the main park entrance, go across Farm Road and follow Silo Road (fireroad) for about 1/2 mile to the trailhead just under and past the Walnut Grove Road bridge. This trail winds through the wetlands and ends at a parking lot just off Germantown Parkway.

Wolf River White Trail: A 4-mile, singletrack dirt path (point-to-point). From the parking lot off Germantown Parkway, go towards the Wolf River and follow the path left, go across the creek and under the bridge.
